As a result of this, in the first 28 days of this month of August, 207 crores (2.07 billion US dollars) of legal remittances have arrived in the country. In local currency (at 120 rupees per dollar) which amounts to more than 24 thousand 800 crore rupees.

On Thursday (August 29), the relevant department of the Central Bank informed this information.

According to the data of Bangladesh Bank, in the first 28 days of August, 207 crore (2.07 billion) dollars of remittances have arrived in the country through legal channels. Which is 640 million dollars more than the same period of the previous year (August-2023). In the first 28 days of August last year, remittances came in at $143 million.

In this regard, a senior official of Bangladesh Bank said that remittances were more than two billion dollars for three consecutive months from April, but in July it decreased and fell below two billion dollars. Now expatriates are encouraged to send remittances legally. They are being made aware. The official expressed hope that more amount of expatriate income or remittance will come in the future.

According to the data of the central bank, in the first month of the current financial year 2024-25, remittances of US$ 190 million came to the country in July. In addition, remittances in June reached 254 million 16 million US dollars. 225 million 38 million dollars came in May before that. In addition, expatriates sent remittances of 204 crore 42 lakhs in April, 199 crores 70 lakhs in March, 216 crores 45 lakhs in February and 211 crores 31 lakhs in January.

On the other hand, according to international standards (BPM6) last July 31, the country's foreign exchange reserves were 20.48 billion dollars. Even on August 21, it remains the same. However, on August 28, it increased slightly to 20.59 billion.

And according to the Central Bank's own accounting system, the country's foreign exchange reserves are now 25.47 billion dollars. The new governor of the central bank. Ahsan H. Mansoor expressed optimism about the reserve and said on Wednesday that the country's reserve will not decrease now.
