In April, remittances to the country reached 190 million dollars


In the month of April, 190 crore 80 US dollars of expatriate income came. In the first 19 days of this month, 128 million 15 million dollars came. According to that, in the next 10 days, the expatriate income came to 62 million 65 million dollars. An average of 60 million dollars of expatriate income came to the country every day.

This information on expatriate income or remittance was obtained from Bangladesh Bank sources on Wednesday (May 1).

Earlier in March, the total expatriate income was 1996.68 million US dollars. The first month of the year was 210 million dollars in January and 2166 million dollars in February.

Most banks are now buying expatriate income at Tk 115-116. However, some banks in crisis are said to be buying dollars at higher prices. Although the official price of the dollar is 110 rupees. As a result, importers have to buy dollars at higher prices to meet import liabilities. This affects the consumer. The overall inflation rate in the country remains high.

In the last financial year 2022-23, expatriate income of 2 thousand 161 crore 7 lakh dollars came. In the previous financial year 2021-22, the income was 2 thousand 103 crore 17 lakh dollars. In the financial year 2020-21, the expatriate income came to 2 thousand 477 crore 77 million dollars, which is the highest expatriate income in a financial year so far.
