The interim government has reduced the price of octane and petrol by Rs 6 per liter and diesel by Rs 1.25 per litre. In the future, we will try to reduce it even further, said Fawzul Kabir Khan, Advisor to the Interim Government on Power, Energy and Mineral Resources.
The adviser said these things to reporters before visiting the Rupsa 800 MW Combined Cycle Power Plant project under construction at Khalishpur in Khulna on Saturday (31 August).
Fawzul Kabir Khan said, you know that most of the fuel we use here is diesel. Diesel vehicles are more. Then there is octane, then gasoline. We are reducing the price of diesel from 106 taka 75 paisa to 105 taka 50 paisa, 1 taka 25 paisa per litre. Octane price from 131 taka to 125 taka, means reducing by 6 taka. Petrol price from 127 taka to 121 taka, that too is reduced by 6 taka.
Regarding the reason for lowering the price of octane and petrol to Rs 6 and diesel price to just Rs 1.25, the energy advisor said, you can say that octane-petrol is used by big people. They reduced 6 rupees? The reason for this is that their quantity is very small. Reducing it reduces its impact. There (diesel) we have lost our lives to reduce one taka 25 paisa. We will try more. If the fuel price remains stable in the future, we can increase the procurement price by increasing the efficiency, there is a procurement price now, I cannot change it. There is a contract. I have done so much for that. In the future we will try to reduce fuel prices further.
