A fire broke out in Dharmadah village of Adabaria union of Daulatpur upazila of Kushtia and about 20 bigha of land was burnt. Residents and fire service personnel tried to bring the fire under control after an hour and a half.
On Friday (April 19) around 5:15 pm, a barge caught fire in the field adjacent to Kazipur Bridge in Dharmadah village of Adabaria Union. The fire caused a loss of at least 22 lakh rupees to 11 breweries.
In addition, about 20 bighas of land in Monirul, Sonarul, Ziarul, Inarul, Mainuddin, Manik, Tuzam, Anarul, Mangal, Paltu, Aktarul have been completely burnt.
According to fire service personnel and local sources, the fire may have started from the fire of a beedi cigarette.
In this regard, Bamundi Fire Service and Civil Defense station officer in charge of Gangni Upazila of Meherpur district. Isaac Ali Biswas said, about 20 bigha of panbarj was burnt in Dharmadah Brijpara of Daulatpur upazila. The fire was brought under control after about an hour and a half.
