The High Court has issued a rule in the wake of the petition filed by ISKCON leader Chinmay Krishna Das Brahmachari in five cases including murder and sedition. Justice KM Zahid Sarwar and Justice Md. The bench of Saiful Islam gave the order.
The hearing on the rule will be held next October. Chinm's lawyer Advocate Apurba Kumar Bhattacharya confirmed the matter.
Earlier, on April 7 this year, Chinmaya Krishna Das was granted bail from the High Court in sedition case. The bail verdict was given by Justice Md. Atwar Rahman and Justice Md. Ali Razor Bench. However, the Chamber Court later suspended the bail order.
A large rally of the Hindu community was held in Chittagong on October 23, 2012. Then on October 7, a sedition case was filed against him on charges of contempt of the national flag, so that five others were charged. He also led a large rally in Rangpur on November 22 of the same year.
Police arrested him in Dhaka on November 27 in a sedition case. The next day, the Chittagong Metropolitan Magistrate Court rejected the bail and ordered him to be imprisoned. On that day, Chinmay's followers clashed with the law enforcers in the court premises. Lawyer Saiful Islam Alif was killed at the time.
Chinmaya Krishna Das is still in jail. Earlier, the Chittagong Metropolitan Sessions Judge Court dismissed his bail application and filed a petition in the High Court.
