Incidence of diarrhea increased in Nandigram, saline shortage in hospital


The incidence of diarrhea has increased in Nandigram of Bogra due to intense heat. According to the hospital authorities, an average of 18-20 patients are admitted to the upazila health complex every day due to diarrhea. The number of diarrhea patients has increased so much that they have to be treated on the ward floor as there are no beds available in the hospital. Also, there is a crisis of cholera saline in the hospital.

Upazila Health Complex (Bijrul) Resident Medical Officer Dr. Iqbal Mahmud Liton said that due to severe heat, the number of diarrhea patients has started to increase. Which has an impact on the health complex. An average of 18-20 patients are admitted with diarrhea every day in the 31-bed hospital. There are also other patients. Meanwhile, the cholera saline crisis exists.

In the morning, it was seen that there are no vacant beds in the Upazila Health Complex (Bijrul). Due to the large number of patients, they have to be treated on the floor of the ward without getting a bed.

Hasina Begum of Badlashan village, a diarrhea patient on the floor of the hospital, said that suddenly the stomach started burning. Later admitted on Friday morning with vomiting and bowel problems. All the beds have patients so you have to stay on the floor.

Diarrhea patient named Tofazzal Hossain of Bisha village said that last Wednesday I had 14-15 bowel movements due to heat. Later I was admitted to the hospital. The hospital gave me some medicine. Some medicines and saline have to be bought from outside.

Nandigram Upazila Health Complex (Bijrul) Health and Family Planning Officer Dr. Tofazzal Hossain Mandal said, many diarrhea patients are admitted to the hospital, so it is not possible to give them a bed. However, other medicines including saline are being given. We are trying to provide medical care to the patients as best we can.
