Indecent comments on female students in Sherpur, teacher dismissed

A teacher has been accused of making indecent comments about schoolgirls, their mothers, grandmothers and grandmothers who participated in the anti-discrimination student movement in Nakla, Sherpur. In the face of students' agitation in this incident, the English subject teacher Kazi Akiluzzaman Apple of Nakla Pilot Model High School has been temporarily suspended by the school authority.

On Sunday (August 18), the authorities decided to fire him in the face of student protests.

Teacher Kazi Akiluzzaman is the son of Samchuzzaman of Kazi Bari of Baneswardi village of Baneswardi union of Appel Nakla upazila. For a long time he was working as a teacher of English subject in Nakla Pilot Model High School of Nakla town.

The students complained that the teacher Apple was teaching in the tenth class of the school on Thursday morning on August 15. At that time, he made ugly comments about the students participating in the quota reform movement present in the class. The students of that school and the students who participated in the quota reform movement burst into excitement after the teacher's comments.

Later on Sunday (August 18), the students started protesting in the school ground demanding the expulsion of teacher Apple by boycotting the class. After realizing the situation, the headmaster of the school, Abdur Rob, held an emergency meeting in his office room with members of the school management committee, teachers, the victim girl's father and some students of the quota reform movement Nakla upazila branch. Several army personnel led by an army officer appeared there after receiving the news. Teacher Apple was introduced. At the meeting, Apple expressed regret for his actions and apologized to everyone present that he would not do anything like that in the future.

At this time, the students are adamant in demanding the expulsion of teacher Apple. Later, in the presence of everyone in the office, head teacher Abdur Rob assured to solve the matter on Monday (August 19). He later adjourned the meeting urging the students to return to class. But the students of the school did not go back to the class and took out a protest march from the school grounds to the city to demand the expulsion of teacher Apple. In the face of the intense agitation of the students, the headmaster Abdur Rob decided to temporarily suspend the teacher Apple.

The victim schoolgirl's father said, the way teacher Apple behaved indecently and harassed my daughter was an unforgivable crime. I want exemplary punishment for Teacher Apple.

Rayyan Al Mahadi, a student of the government Haji Zalmamood College who participated in the quota reform movement, said that we cannot accept such behavior of teacher Apple towards a female student. We want exemplary with his permanent expulsion.

Nakla Pilot Model High School Headmaster Abdur Rob said that after talking to the president of the school management committee, the accused assistant teacher Kazi Akiluzzaman Apple has been suspended within the next 7 days. Later on the complaint will be investigated and necessary action will be taken.
