India has banned some other types of jute products from Bangladesh to land. The country's foreign trade department (DGFT) issued on Monday states that these products can only be imported through the Navahalal Nehru seaport in Mumbai. The ban will be effective immediately.
The banned list includes the bark and cloth, fibers, yarn, rope or rope, sack and bag. Earlier on June 23, nine jute products imposed similar sanctions on India, where crude jute fibers and various types of woven fabrics were included.
The DGFT has said that the ban does not apply to the products for Nepal and Bhutan; However, these products cannot be exported from Bangladesh to Nepal or Bhutan to India.
Bangladesh is one of the world's largest jute and jute products exporting countries. Bangladesh exported $ 1 million jute and other textile fibers to India in 2021, including $ 1 million jute yarn.
This is India's fourth ban on Bangladesh products in the last few months. Earlier, control of garments, processed food items and transashipation facilities were also imposed. The Times of India has said that the trade amounted to $ 1,220 billion between the two countries in the fiscal year 2021-27; Of this, India's export is $ 4 billion and imports are about $ 20 million.
