Inflation eased in August


Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) said that overall inflation has decreased in August compared to last July. Compared to July, overall inflation in August was 1.17 percent. At the same time, food inflation also decreased. However, non-food inflation has increased. Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) reported the information on Sunday (September 8).

According to the latest BBS data, the overall inflation of the country has decreased to 10.49 percent in August, which was 11.66 percent in last July.

Food price inflation, which suddenly increased in the country at the beginning of this year, decreased by 2.74 percent in August compared to July. Overall food inflation stood at 11.36 percent in August. It was 14.10 percent in July.

Meanwhile, overall non-food inflation was 9.68 percent in July, but it increased to 9.74 percent in August.

In addition, in the month of August, the overall price inflation in rural areas has decreased to 10.95 percent from 0.94 percent. Among them, food inflation is 11.44 percent and non-food inflation is 10.45 percent.

And overall price inflation in the city decreased by 1.26 percent to 10.01 percent. Among them, food inflation is 11.24 percent and non-food inflation is 9.20 percent.
