Interim government needs to sit with political parties quickly: Fakhrul

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said that the current government needs to hold talks with the political parties to know what the interim government wants, what the people want, what the political parties want.

He said these things in a press conference held at the Chairperson's office in Gulshan in the capital on Wednesday (August 28). At this time, he urged the leaders and activists not to file lawsuits.

Fakhrul said, what the current government wants, what the people want, what we want – these issues must be resolved through discussion. Otherwise there may be many misunderstandings.

He also said, we are going through a transitional period. This interim government should cooperate and bring back a stable environment. Because one of the goals of the interim government is to create an environment for elections. But that will not happen if the government does not cooperate.

This leader of BNP said that the interim government has come through agitation and revolution. Of course this government should be given reasonable time. All kinds of cooperation are being done for him. There is a conspiracy to destroy the revolution of the students. Some propaganda is being spread from India. They are fueling communalism.

He said, there is a planned conspiracy against BNP again. But in the last 15 years, BNP leaders and activists have been victims of torture and persecution. Plagued with false cases. There are no activists against whom cases have not been filed.

BNP Secretary General said, “We are not in favor of banning any political party”. It is their right to do politics for the independence and sovereignty of Bangladesh.

In response to a question whether he sees any signs of depoliticization in the interim government, he said, “I don't see any signs in the interim government at present.” I am warning. Seeing some faces, whom we have never seen before, suddenly they are on the front page of the media. Their statements, their theories – you are propagating them. To me, this is not good for a healthy democratic process. I don't want to mention names, who I never saw, they are suddenly on the front page. It's normal. But we do not know them, what is their statement, what do they want to do? I don't understand that either. The people of the country do not understand.
