Israel's Response to Gaza Ceasefire Proposal


Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has approved a new ceasefire proposal in the besieged Gaza Strip. The talks will be held in Qatar's capital Doha and Egypt's capital Cairo. Netanyahu's office reported this information on Friday (March 29). News from AFP.

Before this, on Monday, the UN Security Council passed a resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza. The United States did not veto this proposal that day. Enraged by this, Netanyahu brought the negotiating team back to Doha.

Qatar, the mediator, said the following day on Tuesday that ceasefire talks were continuing. However, the two warring parties and mediators did not give much information in this regard.

Netanyahu's office also said he spoke with Mossad chief David Bernier about new talks. However, they did not clarify whether Barnea himself will go to Doha or Cairo.

Meanwhile, on October 7, the Palestinian armed group Hamas attacked various illegal settlements in Israel. 1 thousand 200 Israelis lost their lives in that attack. After that, the Israeli army started to carry out barbaric attacks on Gaza from that day. About 33,000 Palestinians have died in Gaza so far in the attack. Apart from this, about 100,000 people were injured.

On the other hand, in addition to killing 1,200 Israelis on October 7, Hamas fighters captured and brought another 250 people to Gaza. They released 105 of them in a week-long ceasefire last November. Israel believes Hamas still holds 130 hostages. Out of which 33 people have already lost their lives.
