'It is very risky to enter the Ghazi Tire building and carry out rescue operations'

The BUET delegation said that the six-storey building which was burnt down in the Gazi tire factory located in Rupsi, Narayanganj, Rupganj, is not possible to carry out rescue work on the upper part of the building due to the danger.

BUET Professor Rakib Ahsan told reporters after visiting the burnt Gazi tire factory around 10 am on Thursday (August 29).

At this time, he along with Ahsan Habib, Executive Engineer of Public Works Department of Narayanganj District, visited the roof top and different parts of the floor with the leather machine of fire service. However, even if there is no rescue operation in the upper part, the fire service will carry out rescue operation in some parts of the foundation stone of the building.

Earlier, the BUET delegation visited Gazi Tires factory around 9 am.

At that time Rakib Ahsan, engineer of BUET, said, I came in the morning and inspected the part of the factory and climbed up with the fire service ladder and checked different parts of the building. We did not see any bodies with the naked eye. The building has been on fire for three consecutive days. Because of this many parts of the building collapsed. The roof of the 4th and 5th floors of the six-storey building has collapsed and the three-storey basement has come. Due to the longer duration of the fire at the top of the building, the damage was greater at the top. There were a lot of chemicals in the building.

He said that it is very dangerous to carry out rescue work in the building as the third floor and various parts of the building are vulnerable. We went when the Rangs broke the building; The condition of Gazi Tire Factory is worse than Rangos Bhavan. However, fire service personnel will carry out rescue operations in the basement of the ground floor of the building. Even if the building is demolished, the building will have to be demolished in a very planned way.

At that time, Greater Dhaka Fire Service Director Anwarul Haque said, we sat with the investigation committee made by the district administration. We checked various parts of the building with drones and ladders as far as the naked eye could see. The rods of the various columns of the building were pulled out and swollen. It is on the fourth and fifth floors. It is not possible to carry out rescue work in this building. But we will conduct rescue operation in the basement under the building today.

It should be noted that so far the list of 176 missing persons has been found according to the demands of the relatives. Later, when the list was compiled by the students and the police, the number of missing people was 129.
