Jamaat ban notification is withdrawn

The banning notification of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami will be revoked tomorrow Tuesday, said Shishir Mohammad Monir, senior lawyer of the party. He said this in a press conference at the Supreme Court premises on Monday (August 26).

Shishir Monir said, I have spoken to the Ministry of Home Affairs. The ministry has said that the entire process has been completed. As today is a public holiday, I am hoping that the prohibition order will be lifted tomorrow (Tuesday).

He also said that we do not know why Jamaat was banned. I think the party has been banned for political reasons. Because the students and masses of the country have protested against this fascist government. Where Jamaat-e-Islami has also played a role as a supporting force. Earlier, on August 1, the Ministry of Home Affairs issued a notification banning Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, student camps and all related organizations under the Anti-Terrorism Act.

The notification states – Whereas, in several cases handed down by the International Criminal Tribunal, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami (formerly known as Jamaat-e-Islami/Jamaate-e-Islami Bangladesh) and its affiliate Bangladesh Islami Chhatrashibir (formerly known as Islami Chhatra Sangh) have been charged with genocide, war crimes and crimes against humanity during the 1971 Liberation War. has been held liable for the offence; And

Whereas, the Bangladesh Election Commission has canceled the registration of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami as a political party in the judgment of the High Court Division of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh and the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh has upheld the judgment of the High Court Division; And

WHEREAS, the Government has sufficient information to prove that the Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and its affiliate Bangladesh Islami Chhatrashibir were directly and indirectly involved in the recent massacres, destructive activities and terrorist activities; And

WHEREAS, the Government believes that all its affiliates, including Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir, are involved in terrorist activities;

Therefore, the Government, by virtue of Section 18(1) of the Anti-Terrorism Act, 2009, banned Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and all its affiliates including Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir as political parties and organizations and in Schedule-II of the said Act, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and Bangladesh Islami Listed all its affiliates, including student camps, as banned entities. This notification shall be effective immediately.
