Jeffrey Epstein Update: Ghislaine Maxwell Says ‘There Is No List’

Convicted sex trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell, who is seeking a pardon from President Donald Trump, told a top Department of Justice that there is no so-called “client list” linked to the late disgraced sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

That’s according to a trove of transcripts and audio that the DOJ released on Friday.

Why It Matters

The release comes as the Trump administration grapples with anger from the MAGA base, which had been primed by Trump officials like Attorney General Pam Bondi and FBI Director Kash Patel to expect damaging revelations about prominent figures allegedly connected to Epstein.

But the DOJ reversed course last month, saying it would not release any additional information related to Epstein and circumstances surrounding his 2019 death, which was ruled a suicide.

Officials have insisted many records remain under seal to protect victims, even as conspiracy theories over Epstein’s death and alleged “client lists” continue to circulate.

What To Know

Maxwell was asked about her ties to Epstein during a highly unusual two-day interview with Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche last month. According to transcripts and audio that the DOJ released on Friday, Epstein’s longtime former girlfriend told Blanche that “there is no list” of the late financier’s clients.

“So there’s been a lot of conversations about whether Mr. Epstein maintained, like, a list of people, like a book of famous people that he knew,” Blanche told Maxwell, according to the transcripts. “Like a, it’s called a black book or a client list or a list. Did you know of the existence of any such list?”

“There is no list,” Maxwell said. “We’ll start with that. The genesis of that story, I can actually trace for you from its absolute inception, if that is what you’re interested in.”

“It is,” said Blanche, who worked as Trump’s personal defense attorney before being tapped for the number 2 role at the Justice Department.

Maxwell’s lawyer, David Markus, then cut in, saying “Well, first, you know, to be short, there is no list, there’s no client list. Nothing like that.”

“There is no list,” Maxwell later reiterated. “I’m not aware of any blackmail. I never heard that. I never saw it, and I never imagined it.”

Maxwell’s meeting with Blanche came while the Trump administration was under fire from the president’s base, and her lawyer told reporters his client had been “treated unfairly for over five years now.”

Markus added that he and Maxwell, who is serving a 20-year prison sentence for sex-trafficking and other charges, were “grateful for this opportunity to finally say what really happened.”
