Khubi Vice-Chancellor resigns, says 'I can't take defamation anymore'

Khulna University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Mahmud Hossain along with vice-chancellor, treasurer, acting registrar and all provosts have resigned.

The vice-chancellor announced his resignation in front of the students at 12:30 pm on Tuesday (August 20). He himself confirmed this information.

Before announcing his resignation, he told the students, 'All in all, it is not possible for me to stay any longer. The writings that have started in different places including social media since Monday, my honor is being defamed, I can't take the defamation anymore. My honor before all else, let me rest in peace. I don't want you to do anything else. You all go back to class.'

Professor of Forestry and Wood Technology discipline of the university. Mahmud Hossain joined as VC on 25 May 2021.

Besides, two members of the syndicate, director of physical education practice department, director and additional directors of IQAC resigned. Acting Registrar confirmed these resignations.

Earlier on August 12, Director of Student Affairs (DSA) Prof. Sharif Hasan Limon and DSA body members resigned simultaneously.

Besides, on August 15, Director of Public Relations Department (Acting), Vice-Chancellor's Secretary, PA, Treasurer's Secretary, Registrar's Secretary, Project Director and 13 people were transferred to different places.

University professor of chemistry discipline. Mosammat Hosne Ara joined as Vice-Chancellor on 11 October 2020. Amit Roy Chowdhury joined as Treasurer on 16 August 2022.
