The country's government has suspended the licenses of 47 employers in Malaysia over allegations of harassment in the manpower sector.
On Friday (May 31), the Ministry of Human Resources of Malaysia announced the matter in a statement.
Meanwhile, as announced by Malaysia's Home Minister Saifuddin Nashnoon, the country's labor market for Bangladeshis is closing at 12:00 pm on Friday. After this, no more Bangladeshi calling visa workers can enter Malaysia.
On the other hand, the fate of 30,000 workers going to Malaysia at the last minute is hanging at Dhaka and Kuala Lumpur airports. Thousands of people were waiting endlessly to take the last chance after the announcement of no more workers after Friday.
Around 5 lakh Bangladeshi workers went to Malaysia after the re-opening of the labor market in 2022 at the end of the Corona pandemic. However, since the worker quota is filled, no worker will be able to enter the country after May 31, even if they have a visa or permit.
The Asian country had already announced this. However, despite getting 6 months time, the exporters of manpower did not pay attention to the rules. There were 25 agencies in the cycle of sending workers to the country. After that a total of 100 private agencies got approval step by step. Later it was joined by the government agency Boesel.
Meanwhile, hundreds of thousands of workers gathered at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Friday, unable to go to Malaysia even on the last day of the deadline. Everyone is waiting when the recruiting agency people will bring the tickets. On the other hand, the recruiting agencies claim that tickets were not available at the last minute. As time goes on, the hope of the workers crowded at the airport to go to Malaysia is fading.
Meanwhile, according to CNA news, about 30,000 Bangladeshi workers have reached the two international terminals in Kuala Lumpur and are staying on the floor until Friday. Due to waiting for hours, they suffered many things including food and water. Employers are also struggling to identify their employees. Many are unable to leave Kuala Lumpur airport to join the workplace as their employers do not accept them after a long wait.
