The Detroit Lions are a playoff hopeful in 2024, and the team shocked the NFL by going 12-5 and nearly beating the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship game. The Lions have a new culture under head coach Dan Campbell, and the results of this new-look team have shown.
One of the big reasons the Lions are so formidable is because of offensive lineman Penei Sewell. The Lions took Sewell No. 7 overall in the 2021 NFL Draft, and the Oregon product has emerged as one of the best, if not the best, tackles in the league.
Sewell is the anchor on the offensive line, but the Lions could be dealing with the reality of losing Sewell for some time.
Penei Sewell left practice today with a left foot injury. Trainers took off his shoe and were checking his ankle and foot before he walked – slowly but without assistance – to the locker room for further testing.

According to Lions reporter Justin Rogers, “Penei Sewell left practice today with a left foot injury. Trainers took off his shoe and were checking his ankle and foot before he walked – slowly but without assistance – to the locker room for further testing.”
Sewell exited practice after suffering a left foot injury. Trainers immediately checked on his foot before he walked away and headed to the locker room. The good news is he left the field unassisted, but this is still a scary situation.
