Little Girl’s Face After Watching Mom Give Birth Is ‘Straight Terror’

A girl’s face of “straight terror” has gone viral on TikTok after she witnessed her baby brother being born.

In the video, second-time mom Amanda Galat is holding her newborn baby on her chest, while her partner holds their visibly stunned 16-month-old who has just watched the entire birth unfold.

Galat captioned the video: That’s the face of straight terror lol, humorously acknowledging her daughter’s bewildered expression.

Girl traumatized or excited at brother's birth
Amanda Galat, from Arizona, told Newsweek that her daughter was likely confused at what she had just witnessed: “One second there’s no baby and the next there’s a whole baby here.”

“I originally wasn’t going to have her in the hospital room with me, but I had missed her, so I asked my cousin (who was babysitting) if she could bring her to the hospital before the baby came so I could see her one last time,” the 22-year-old told Newsweek.

Galat hadn’t seen her daughter in two days due to her labor starting earlier than expected.

“They were running late and by the time they got to the hospital, they were giving me the epidural and breaking my water. Then [the] baby came very shortly after that and there wasn’t enough time to have them leave and take her back home,” the new mom explained.

Galat also addressed her intense shaking and teeth chattering, which many other social media users are calling “labor shakes” in the comments section.

Labor shakes are related to hormone shifts, adrenaline response and temperature, according to a Parents.com article. Not all women get them.

“Once they gave me the epidural, I started itching and shaking so bad, and by the time the baby came I was shaking so bad I could barely sit still,” she told Newsweek. “They calmed down about an hour or so after I had given birth, but they were so intense in the beginning.”

The clip, which has been viewed almost 2 million times, garnered a mixed reaction from viewers.

Some thought that the presence of her daughter was “so cute” and would have wanted the same thing when they were giving birth if the hospital permitted it.

“We aren’t allowed even siblings in the room, just dad or one person that’s 20+,” one TikTok user commented.

A mom of 3 shared that her toddlers were amazed by the whole process. “They were so excited for their new sibling,” she added.

Many other moms also recalled their experience of shaking after labor. One TikTok user commented that they were unable to hold her newborn for the first couple of hours because she was causing the bed to vibrate.

One TikTok user questioned whether it was appropriate for a toddler to be in the room during birth: “Imagine this is her first memory”, while another commented on the little girl’s “nervous laugh.”

Galat told Newsweek that despite the divided opinions, she was happy to have her daughter see her brother fresh out the womb.

“I had a very smooth and fast labor; there wasn’t screaming and yelling or any of that. I only pushed four times and he was out,” she said

She also clarified that she doesn’t think her daughter was actually traumatized and wrote the caption as a joke.

“They’re slowly becoming best friends, and I love to see it,” she told Newsweek.
