Massive preparations to welcome Salahuddin Ahmed in Cox's Bazar

BNP Standing Committee member and former state minister Salahuddin Ahmed is coming to his district Cox's Bazar after a long decade on Wednesday (August 28). He is scheduled to reach Cox's Bazar airport in a private plane at noon. Welcoming the top leader of BNP, the leaders and activists of the district BNP and other organizations covered the streets and alleys of Cox's Bazar with pylons, banners and festoons.

Cox's Bazar district BNP president and former whip Shahjahan Chowdhury said extensive preparations have been made to welcome Salahuddin Ahmed. The common people of the district are looking forward to catch a glimpse of their beloved leader. We hope that the people of Cox's Bazar city will be popular.

Earlier, on the occasion of Salahuddin Ahmed's arrival, district BNP and Chhatra Dal leaders and activists marched in Cox's Bazar town on Tuesday (August 27) afternoon. A separate procession left the district BNP office and circled the main road of the city and returned to the district office.

District BNP office secretary Yusuf Badri said that Salahuddin Ahmed will visit the BNP office which was burnt down directly from Cox's Bazar airport. From there you will go to Chakaria by road. He will attend the reception organized by Chakaria Upazila BNP there at 2 pm. After that Salahuddin Ahmed will attend another mass reception organized by Upazila BNP in his village Pekua.

He also said that during this visit, Salahuddin Ahmed will stay in Cox's Bazar for a week. During this time, he will meet with the family members of the students' mass uprising, visit their graves and exchange greetings with the leaders and activists who were crushed by the torture and oppression of the dictatorial government in the last 16 years.

On June 14, 2014, Salahuddin Ahmad returned to Dhaka after finishing the political rally in Cox's Bazar. He went missing from Dhaka on March 10, 2015. He was arrested by the Shillong police on May 11 that year while 'roaming aimlessly' in Shillong, Meghalaya state, India. A case of illegal entry was registered in his name.
