Metrorail is planning to operate all day from next May to Friday. There is also the idea of minimizing the break in which the Metrorail is currently running. This will increase the number of daily train movement. Metrorail tickets have been sold by around Tk 20 crore in the fiscal year 2021-27.

Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) Managing Director (MD) Mohammad Abdur Rauf said this in a meeting with members of the Reporters for Rail and Road (RRR).

The exchange was held at the Metrorail depot on Tuesday.

It is reported that Metrorail is currently operating from three o'clock on Friday. On the other day, the Metrorail is running from both sides for 5 minutes at the time of busy times and at less busy (off -peak hours) for 5 minutes. Metrorail travels 3 times a day in the opening days. The number of trains will increase even if the break is reduced. Besides, the train is currently running from Friday afternoon to night. On Friday morning, the number of trains will increase if the Metrorail movement begins.

At the meeting, DMTCL MD Abdur Rauf said, “We are trying to bring the Metrorail frequency to a tolerable level by May. We are working for this purpose. There are instructions for the advisor. We targeted May in May. Hopefully I will be able to get it in May. ”
