Modi's new cabinet with 72 people

Narendra Modi, who came to power for the third time in a row, has accommodated 72 people in his cabinet. Of these, 30 are full ministers and 41 are ministers of state (including five independent incumbents). Modi and his cabinet members took oath at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Sunday.

In the last two elections, Modi's party, BJP, won a single majority. So BJP did not have to think much about the partners even if there was an alliance. However, BJP has won 240 Lok Sabha seats in this election. As the party did not get the required 272 seats to form the government, the party now has to rely entirely on its partners in the NDA alliance.

In the new cabinet, five full ministers and six ministers of state had to vacate the posts of the allied parties of the NDA. Of the 30 full ministers who took oath on Sunday, 25 are from the BJP.

The list of five full ministers from allied parties includes Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu of Telugu Desam Party (TDP), Rajeevranjan (Lallan) Singh of Janata Dal United (JDU), HD Kumaraswamy of Janata Dal Secular (JDS), Chirag of Lok Janshakti Party Rambilas (LJP). Paswan, Hindustan Awam Morcha (HAM) is led by Jitanram Majhin.

Among the six ministers of state from the coalition parties are Shiv Sena's Prataprao Yadav, Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD)'s Jayant Chowdhury, Republican Party of India (RPI-A)'s Ramdas Athwale, JDU's Ramnath Thakur, Apna Dal (Sonelal) Anupriya Patel, TDP's Chandrasekhar Pemmasani. are there
