A makeup artist took to TikTok to thank her mom for being by her side and supporting her career.
Mariella Minniti, 28, from Perth, Western Australia, said her mother left her job as a beautician and makeup artist to raise her and her brother.
She said her mom, Domenica, 68, started teaching her to wax, tint and apply makeup at the age of 12. Inspired to follow in her mother’s footsteps, Minniti founded two beauty companies: MARIELLAglama and MARIELLAskin.
Under the handle @_mariellaminniti, Minniti posted a video on TikTok showing Domenica cleaning makeup brushes as Minniti worked on a client’s face. The 19-second clip has received more than 412,000 views and 62,000 likes since Minniti posted in on May 19.
In the video’s text overlay, Minniti wrote: “Meet my beautiful mum. She’s been at almost every makeup job with me cleaning my brushes between clients and making sure I have food and coffee to keep me going.”

She continued: “Without her I wouldn’t be the makeup artist I am today. I will never be able to express how much I appreciate and love you.”
In the video’s caption, Minniti added: “I couldn’t ask for a better assistant, a more loving mother, or a more wonderful life.
“I love you so much, Mum. Thank you for supporting me through every step of my journey.”
Minniti told Newsweek: “I couldn’t have done any of this without her. Her support and guidance with my businesses and learning the trade has been a blessing.
“Honestly, all my success has been because of my parents. They helped guide me onto these accomplishments and supported me no matter what. I love and appreciate them both so much.”
The makeup artist and business owner said her mother had been with her since her first appointment and came along with her no matter how early or late she had to work.
Minniti said: “My mum inspired me as she was a makeup artist and beautician herself. I remember watching her do clients as a kid and was inspired to learn and be a makeup artist when I grew up.
“We are very close. Coming from an Italian family, the morality of family is huge. Family comes first, and my mum and I are so close. I couldn’t imagine not being able to talk to her every day.”
Minniti also said she owed her success to her dad, who started a security business alongside her mom when she was 6.
In the video’s comments section, viewers praised Minniti’s relationship with her mom.
“I want to be this mother to my daughter when she gets into her beauty business,” a user wrote.
“Nothing compares to a mother’s love,” another added.
“She makes sure you’re taken care of as you’re taking care of everybody else,” a user said.
A commenter wrote: “Thank you for sharing this. I see so many adult children who don’t get the support from parents they need and this just warms my heart.”
