Namibia intercepts ship bound for Israel loaded with explosives

Namibia intercepts ship bound for Israel loaded with explosives. The vessel was detained by the Namibian Ports Authority (Namport) on Tuesday night.

According to the BBC, Vietnam has sent a ship loaded with explosives for Israel in the ongoing Gaza war. Authorities later suspected that the Israeli-bound MV Catherine Nare was transporting military cargo on board. As a result they were not allowed to anchor in Namibia.

Namibian Law Minister Yvonne Dausab claimed that the ship had explosives destined for Israel. As a result the ship was not allowed to anchor. The ship, departing from Vietnam, requested to dock at Walvis Bay before heading north to the Mediterranean.

Walvis Bay is Namibia's largest commercial port. It is located on the western side of the African continent. The Namibian Ports Authority (Namport) handles about 900 ships and about eight million tonnes of cargo each year.
