NASCAR has confirmed that Big Machine Racing, along with its driver Parker Kligerman, have been penalized after the recent event at Michigan International Speedway, as per NBC. Both the team and Kligerman were each docked 20 points after a violation involving unauthorized modifications to the car’s spoiler.
As part of the sweeping penalties, the team suffered an additional loss of five playoff points, and crew chief Patrick Donahue was hit with a financial penalty.
The amendment in question pertained to Section 14.4.10.A of the Xfinity Series Rule Book, which strictly governs car modifications. The infraction was identified during the routine post-race inspection process following Kligerman’s 11th place finish at Michigan, a race where he had initially earned 27 points.
Looking ahead, the immediate focus for Kligerman and his team shifts to the next challenge in the NASCAR Xfinity Series calendar. The series will continue under the lights at the iconic Daytona International Speedway, scheduled for a 7:30 p.m. ET start on this coming Friday.
