'Healthy workers, pleasant working environment; Walton, the country's top global electronics brand, has celebrated 'National Occupational Health and Safety Day-2024' through various day-long programs with the theme of 'Building a Smart Bangladesh'.
On the occasion of the day, various programs were organized by the company's Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) department at Walton's corporate office in the capital on Sunday (April 28). Among these were awareness rallies and discussion meetings etc.
Additional Managing Director (AMD) of Walton Hi-Tech Industries Plc., Eva Rizwana Nilu, inaugurated the day celebrations. In his presence, an awareness rally was taken out at Walton Corporate Office to increase awareness about occupational health and safety among employees as per the guidelines of National Occupational Health and Safety Profile-2019. The rally circumambulates various important roads of the corporate office. After that, other programs were held including discussions on guidelines to ensure occupational health and safety.
Walton Hi-Tech Additional Managing Director Nazrul Islam Sarkar and Eva Rizwana Nilu, Deputy Managing Director Md. Humayun Kabir, Senior Executive Director SM Zahid Hasan and other senior officials of the organization.
Nazrul Islam Sarkar emphasized on the proper implementation of national occupational health and safety policy in the workplace in his welcome speech.
He said, a healthy and safe workforce is an asset to the company. They are able to contribute greatly to the development of the company. At Walton we maintain a safe work environment. We will be more aware and do our part to ensure occupational health and safe working environment.
Eva Rizwana Nilu said, We all have to be aware of our respective responsibilities. In any work, the family should be kept in mind first. Because if we have any loss, it will affect the family. Everyone who works at Walton is a family. Walton is committed to ensuring the health and safety of his family members. Many programs are ongoing for this purpose.
Among which the most important are – workplace risk assessment, regular monitoring, regular training, third party audit, taking preventive measures subject to post-accident investigation, regular fire drills, awarding good work, getting permits for risky work, timely various campaigns, visual awareness etc.
