Oman has lifted visa restrictions on Bangladeshi citizens in 10 categories. The Oman government is exempting certain categories from the visa ban imposed on Bangladeshi citizens in October last year.

On Wednesday (June 12), the Oman Embassy in Dhaka informed this information in a press release.

According to it, the Oman Embassy in Dhaka has confirmed that the relevant Omani authorities have recently decided to exempt certain categories of Bangladeshi nationals from the visa ban imposed in October last year, including: family visa, GCG or Bangladeshi nationals residing in Gulf countries. Visit visas, doctors, engineers, nurses, teachers, accountants, investors and all types of official visas and tourists with high-income financial capacity.

It has also been said that the Oman Embassy in Dhaka will accept visa applications from the mentioned categories of applicants and will coordinate with the Royal Oman Police regarding the visa issue. In favor of the visa applied for, the applicant must submit all his documents to the embassy for proper attestation and verification. The visa application process takes between one and four weeks depending on the verification of the information provided by each applicant.

According to the notification, the embassy wants to assure that the Bangladesh government and the Omani authorities are working sincerely in this regard and the authorities of both countries have gone a long way to speed up the process of lifting the ban.

According to the Oman Embassy, ​​the issue of the visa ban is merely an ad hoc decision which is part of an ongoing regular process of surveying and reviewing the foreign labor market in Oman for strategic reasons. The existing bilateral relations between Bangladesh and Oman are very good and under the prudent and capable leadership of these two countries, the field of bilateral relations is increasing day by day and is expanding in a multi-dimensional manner.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh welcomed Oman's decision. In a press release of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Wednesday (June 12) night, Bangladesh welcomes the lifting of Oman's visa ban.
