After four months and 10 days, 9 donation boxes of the traditional Pagla mosque of Kishoreganj will be opened again. The boxes will be opened on Saturday (April 20), said the administrative officer of Pagla Mosque, Birmuktijoddha Shaukat Uddin Bhuiyan.
He said that the donation boxes are opened after three months, but this time due to Ramadan, the donation boxes are being opened after four months and 10 days. It is expected that all the past records will be broken and new records will be created.
Pagla Masjid Management Committee sources said that traditional Pagla Masjid has eight donation boxes but one more donation box has been added due to increase in donations. Now the number of donation box in Pagla mosque is 9.
The donation box of Kishoreganj's historic Pagla Mosque was opened four times in 2023. A total of 21 crore 87 lakh 85 thousand 181 taka was received in four times. Besides money, diamonds, foreign currency and gold ornaments were also found in large quantities. The donation boxes were last opened on December 9, 2023. At that time, a record of 6 crore 32 lakh 51 thousand 423 taka was received. Foreign currency and gold ornaments are available.
The money received from the donation of the mosque is spent on various social welfare works as well as various mosques, madrassas and orphanages in the district along with the related mosques. Apart from this, 80 volunteers of Shaheed Syed Nazrul Islam Medical College Hospital, who are engaged in the service of patients during Corona, were also given a donation from this donation.
An initiative has been taken to construct a beautiful Islamic complex of international standard in the mosque. The work will start soon. Which will be called 'Pagla Masjid Islamic Complex'. The initial cost of its construction has been estimated at 115 crore rupees. There, 60,000 worshipers can pray together.
