Paharsam leads Sri Lanka at lunch

Bangladesh got off to a good start on the third day of the Sylhet Test. Khaled Ahmed returned Fernando after 126 runs in the second innings of the Lankans. However, the visitors turned around and made the first session their own. Dhananjaya De Silva's team went into the mid-day break with a lead of 325 runs.

The Lankans started the third day with 119 runs for 5 wickets on Sunday (March 24). At that time Dhananjaya de Silva was unbeaten on 23 and Vishwa Fernando. However, the visitors were shocked to collect 7 runs on the scoreboard.

Khaled brought relief to the Tiger camp by returning Fernando after the team scored 126 runs. Fernando wanted to punch the ball outside the off stamp of this pacer. But it was not lucky. Mirage took a great catch at slip.

The Lankans turned around again. Like the first innings, Silva and Kamindu Mendis are sitting on the wicket.

Khaled wanted to mancade Mendis who was on the non-strike side in his 14th over. After reaching the popping crease with running, the pacer threw the ball towards the stumps. But it didn't help much. The ball did not hit the stamp. A bit has gone out. Mendis, who was on 49 runs, survived this. The Lankan batsman completed his half-century in just one ball.

Silva and Kamindu have already made a partnership of more than 100 runs for the seventh wicket. The Lankans lead by 300 with their bat. On the other hand, Lankan captain Dhananjaya de Silva is on the verge of his second consecutive century.

Silva went into the lunch break unbeaten on 85 and Mendis on 50. Before the mid-day break, the Lankans collected 233 runs for 6 wickets.

Earlier, Bangladesh were bowled out for 188 runs in the first innings of the Sylhet Test against a target of 280 runs given by the Lankans. Batting in the second innings, the visitors picked up 119 runs for 5 wickets. With a lead of 211 runs, Sri Lanka is sitting in the driver's seat at the end of the second day.
