Posting photos of sealed ballots in Tangail on Facebook

The picture of Silmara ballot paper in Tangail has gone viral on social media Facebook. These pictures are said to have been posted from different IDs. However, it is not known from which center these pictures have been posted. In the third phase, elections were held in some upazilas of Tangail on Wednesday (May 29).

As per rules, voters have to enter the booth by handing over their mobile phone to the polling staff. But, many voters broke the law and entered the booths with mobile phones. After sealing the ballot paper, they took a picture and posted it on Facebook.

A person named Alamgir Hossain posted the picture of the sealed ballot paper on Facebook after voting for M Shibli Sadiq for the post of chairman in Delduar Upazila Parishad election with 'telephone' symbol. In the same upazila, a photograph of a ballot sealed with a 'telephone' symbol was posted from a Facebook ID named Alex Oppi.

Meanwhile, in Tangail Sadar, another voter, Muhit Islam, posted a photo of the ballot paper sealing the chairman candidate Tofazzal Hossain Khan Tofa with the symbol of 'Dowat Kalam', the vice chairman Ishtiaq Ahmed Rajiv with the symbol of 'Urojahaj' and the woman vice chairman candidate Poppy Guha with the symbol of 'Padmaful'. .

In the same upazila, a person named Kazi Ilyas was seen posting a picture of the ballot paper of the chairman candidate Mohammad Farooq Hossain Manik sealed with the 'horse' symbol on Facebook. In Sadar Upazila, the vice chairman candidate Kaushik Ahmed Raju posted a picture on Facebook of his favorite candidate Istiaq Ahmed Rajiv voting with the airplane symbol.

Manotosh Ghosh, Presiding Officer of Krishna Kumar High School Center of Tangail Sadar Upazila, said, 'Posting sealed ballot papers on Facebook is a crime. Anyone posting should be dealt with according to law. This did not happen in my polling station. '

District Election Officer Mohammad Matiur Rahman said, 'I don't know if anyone has given the sealed ballot on Facebook. It is not possible to give a speech without knowing.' He hung up the phone saying this.
