Primary teachers get 5,000 taka less than the salary of secretaries!

At the marginal stage, Komalmati is involved with the education of children. I have been working in this profession for about 19 years. Inequality also exists in primary education. Even after 53 years of independence, the foundation of primary education has not been strengthened, the current state of primary education is like cutting the pulse of a newly born child with a razor blade. Compulsory primary education program up to eighth grade of the education policy formulated in 2010 has not started even though 14 years have passed.

People in the chair change as their mindsets change, rules don't stay fixed. Even today, I could not make the primary education attractive and contemporary, nor could I make the teaching profession! Who is responsible?

University students join the job of teaching profession in primary education, after a few days they move to another profession but why? Why are talented people losing interest in the primary teaching profession?

Are the Department of Elementary Education researchers trying to find answers?

In the 20th century, the poet Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay, in his writings, took up the life picture of the then teacher, Lat Saheb's salary was equal to the cost of 1 thong of a dog with 3 thongs. At present, the salary of government office drivers after the eighth grade is in the 12th grade, and the salary of the primary teachers after graduation is one step lower in the 13th grade, only 11,000 rupees!

The salary of primary school teachers is Rs 5,000 less than the subsistence allowance of secretaries. Even in the 21st century, the salary of pachak bata and class VIII pass driver is higher than the salary of primary teachers.

Most of the teachers are burdened with bank loans and have been carrying out the responsibilities of teaching in frustration and distress. Daily tiffin allowance of primary school teachers is only Rs.6:66. The sad thing is that when the primary teachers raise the demand for salary increase, “the treasury is strained”, while under the supervision of the state, the accommodation, food and medical care of nearly 10 lakh foreign Rohingyas are being arranged by the state.
