Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has expressed deep grief and sorrow over the death of squadron leader Muhammad Asim Jawad in a training aircraft accident.
A Yak-130 training aircraft of the Bangladesh Air Force crashed near the mouth of the Karnaphuli river on Thursday (May 9) at approximately 10:25 am while returning from Air Force base Zahurul Haq in Chittagong as part of regular training.
When the plane caught fire, the aeronautical wing commander said. Sohan Hasan Khan and Squadron Leader Muhammad Asim Jawad made an emergency parachute descent from the aircraft into the river. Among them, Squadron Leader Muhammad Asim Jawad was taken to BNS Patenga for urgent treatment as his condition was critical. After all efforts, the doctor declared Jawad dead.
