Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has instructed State Minister for Power Nasrul Hamid to carry out load-shedding in the areas of the elite and the rich if necessary to keep the irrigation of agricultural land uninterrupted.
He said this in the concluding speech of the ongoing second session of the 12th National Parliament on Thursday (May 9) evening. Speaker presided over the session. Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury.
The Prime Minister said, if necessary, load shedding will be provided in elite areas of the capital like Banani-Gulshan.
He said, 'The farmer should get the irrigation. But there are subsidies. So there was no shortage. We have arranged it. Yes, I was telling this to our Minister of State for Power, I said that load shedding will not be given in villages on the day when load shedding will take place.
Sheikh Hasina said, 'Deba Gulshan, Baridhara, Banani in the place of big people. Who uses the most electricity? Elevator in the house, Television in the house, Air condition in the house. Making them a little over two hours, but saves me a lot. My peasants will no longer lack. I will do that from now on. I was telling the state minister, I want to see loadshedding wherever you live.'
Apart from this, the Prime Minister said about the culture of loan defaults, 'loan defaults started during Zia's regime, from which there is no way out yet.'
