The ongoing anti-government protests in Iran have turned violent. According to human rights organizations, the death toll has exceeded 500, including members of the security forces.

Protests have been ongoing across Iran for more than two weeks. There were reports of widespread violence in various cities including the capital Tehran on Sunday. Human rights organization HRANA claims that the death toll has exceeded 500 in the protests that began on December 28. Out of which 48 are members of security forces. More than 10,000 protesters were arrested. However, according to the report of the Iranian news agency Tasnim, more than a hundred members of the security forces were killed.
Meanwhile, Iran's President Masoud Pezheshkian has accused the United States and Israel of inciting riots. He said, 'US and Israel have attacked and killed our children and youth, they are now directing our people, telling them to move on. They are also inciting sabotage.'
US President Donald Trump has already commented that Washington may intervene in Iran by supporting the protests. He also said that the United States is ready to help the protesters.
In response, Iran's parliament speaker Mohammad Bakr Kalibaf warned that Tehran will retaliate if attacked. And the targets will be Israel and US bases. His comments come at a time when Israel is on alert over possible US intervention in Iran.
