India's foreign ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal, when asked about India's response to a request to send Sheikh Hasina back to Bangladesh, said such questions are speculative. And there is no way to answer any question based on guesswork.

On August 5, Sheikh Hasina left the country and went to India after resigning from the post of Prime Minister in the face of mass protests by students. He has been there ever since. Then Dr. An interim government led by Mohammad Yunus was sworn in and recently canceled diplomatic passports. But Sheikh Hasina can legally stay in India for 45 days and is based in India. He has already spent more than three weeks in the country.

In response to a question about the future of India's bilateral development project in Bangladesh, Jaiswal said that the process of issuing visas to all categories of Bangladeshis will resume only when the situation stabilizes.

Regarding the attack on the Indira Gandhi Cultural Center in Dhaka, he said, Bangladesh authorities have tried their best to control law and order. We are hopeful that development cooperation will resume once the unrest is over.

He also said that right now Bangladeshis are being given visas only in emergency cases like medical visas. If the law and order situation in Bangladesh normalizes, the issuance of visas in other categories will resume.
