Ranjit touched me in the dark balcony: Srilekha

Alleging sexual harassment against Indian Malayalam director Ranjith, Tollywood actress Srilekha Mitra said, Ranjith behaved intemperately with me. He even touched me without permission. Ranjit touched me in the dark balcony.

Meanwhile, Tollywood actress Srilekha also protested. But he complained of harassment against the director on social media. Srilekha said, director Ranjith touched me in the dark balcony.

Stating that the incident was terrible, the actress said, I could not share this incident with anyone. After this incident I went to my hotel and spent the whole night in great fear. It seemed as if someone came and knocked on the door. I was waiting for daylight. However, after this incident, he was not even arranged for a return ticket to Kolkata.

Srilekha told the media that she was sexually harassed by director Ranjith during the audition for 'Paleri Manikyam: Oru Pathirakolapathakathinte Katha'. The actress said, I was talking to a cinematographer on the phone. Ranjith suddenly called me to his bedroom to tell the story of the film. I thought he was calling to avoid the crowd. The room was quite dark. I was standing on the balcony of the house talking on the phone. Suddenly the director started playing with my bangles. We women understand the meaning of a man's touch. I was uncomfortable. Because I was not very friendly with him. But I couldn't be sure. He kept touching my neck and hair. Immediately I left that room.

Meanwhile, Ranjith, head and director of the Kerala State Film Academy, responded to the actress' complaint. Claiming Sreelekha's allegations as false, the director said, I spoke to him (Sreelekha) in the presence of screenwriter Shankar Ramakrishnan. Srilekha was happy after hearing the story. I was a bit in doubt as to which character Srilekha would be given. But in the end, he was not given any role, so he filed a sexual harassment complaint, the director claimed.
