Wright suffered a broken foot in the team’s preseason finale on Saturday against the Green Bay Packers. Head coach John Harbaugh told reporters after the game.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter shared the news via Twitter/X.

Wright went down in the first half; however, it was unclear on what play. His final touch was a 27-yard kick return.

The second-year back was competing for a spot on the depth chart with rookie fifth-round pick Rasheen Ali for the No. 3 spots behind Derrick Henry and Justice Hill after spending last season on the practice squad. Ali, who had suffered from a stinger in the first preseason game, returned to practice this past week but did not play Saturday.

Wright was solid in his preseason outing as he recorded 18 carries for 52 yards and caught two passes for 23 yards and a touchdown in three preseason games. He also averaged 30 yards on four preseason kickoff returns.

This now complicates the Ravens’ running back situation, although their first two spots are already taken care of. The Ravens signed All-Pro running back and former Offensive Player of the Year Henry to their squad this offseason. He signed a two-year, $16 million deal worth up to $20 million, which also included $9 million fully guaranteed in the first year.

Hill, who will enter his sixth overall season and fifth playing season with Baltimore, will serve as Henry’s backup. The 26-year-old hails from Oklahoma and attended Oklahoma State. He is rushed for 934 career rush yards in 59 games and five starts.

As for Wright, he went undrafted in the 2023 NFL Draft before signing with the Ravens as an undrafted free agent. He was waived in late Aug. 2023 but signed on the practice squad days later. Later in the 2023 season, he was promoted from the practice squad and signed a reserve/future contract in late January.

The 25-year-old attended William & Mary from 2017-20 and then transferred to Monmouth, where he spent two seasons. In his final year at Monmouth, he was named to the First-team All-CAA after playing in all 11 games at running back and on special teams. Wright finished his final collegiate season with 72 carries for 304 rushing yards and 16 touchdowns. He also made two receptions for 28 yards and a touchdown.

The injury is a significant blow to Wright’s chances, and we’ll find out soon how the Ravens will handle the situation.
