After being held hostage by Somali pirates for a month, the family of sailor Jai Mahmood of Bagatipara, Natore, who was anxious for his release, has returned to peace. Parents and relatives are waiting to see the loved one.
Joy Mahmud contacted the family members after release. He is the eldest child of Ziaur Rahman and Rozina Begum couple of Salanagar Dakshinpara village of upazila.
Jai's cousin Maruf said that after the release, Jai Mahmood contacted someone else's phone and confirmed the matter. They are going to Dubai port by ship. From there you will return home by air.
Joy's father Ziaur Rahman expressed his relief at his son's release. He said that the anxiety and depression that has been passed for the last one month has finally disappeared. Now I am waiting for my son to come back home.
Mother Rozina Begum said, after hearing the news of her son's arrest by pirates, she could not even eat and drink properly for a month. Later on Saturday morning, I regained my strength after my son phoned to inform me that he had been released. This time there was no joy on the day of Eid, but the joy of Eid was defeated by the news of release. He expressed gratitude to the government and ship owners.
Incidentally, 23 sailors, including the Bangladeshi ships MV Abdullah and Jai Mahmud, were taken hostage by Somali pirates on March 12 from the Indian Ocean on their way to take coal from Mozambique.
