In March, expatriates sent remittances of US$ 199.68 million through legal channels or banking channels. In local currency (110 taka per dollar) which amounts to taka 21 thousand 965 crores.
This information was revealed in the updated report published by Bangladesh Bank on Monday (April 1).
According to the data, expatriate income in March was $167.7 million or 74 percent less than last February. In February this year, expatriate income was 216 million 45 million dollars. In addition, remittances decreased by 2.56 million dollars or 1.27 percent compared to the same period of the previous year. In March last year, remittances came in at 202 crore 24 lakh US dollars.
After reviewing the data, it was found that remittances in March reached 199.68 million US dollars (19.96 billion). Out of this, 261.7 million dollars came through state-owned banks, 35.2 million dollars through a specialized bank, 169.17 million dollars came through private banks and 8.11 million dollars remittances came through foreign banks.
In the last financial year 2022-23, the total remittance received was 2 thousand 161 crore 7 lakh US dollars. In the previous financial year 2021-2022, the total remittance came to 2 thousand 103 crore 17 lakh US dollars. In the financial year 2020-21, the remittance came to 2 thousand 477 crore 77 million US dollars. Which is the maximum remittance amount.
