Resignation of Ruet Vice-Chancellor

Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET) Vice-Chancellor Dr. Md. Jahangir Alam resigned. In a letter sent to the chancellor and president of the university on Saturday (August 31) afternoon, he cited family reasons for his resignation.

Acting Registrar of RUET Arif Ahmed Chowdhury confirmed the resignation of the Vice-Chancellor on Sunday (September 1).

He said that the vice-chancellor has sent his resignation letter to the chancellor citing family reasons. A copy of the resignation letter has been given to him.

The acting registrar said, Ruet is now vacant as vice-chancellor. One of the senior Deans can act as Vice Chancellor. However, no decision has been made yet on who will perform the duties. This decision will be taken very soon.

It may be noted that as per the decision of the 105th Syndicate emergency meeting held on August 10, the residential halls of Ruet opened on August 20 and the class-examination started from August 24.

Before this, on August 13 of last year, the professor of civil engineering department of Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CHUTE) as vice chancellor of RUET. Jahangir Alam was appointed for four years by the Department of Secondary and Higher Education, Ministry of Education.
