School shooting in Georgia, USA, fear of many casualties

The shooting happened at Apalachee High School in Georgia, USA. On Wednesday (September 4) morning local time, gunshots were heard from inside the school. A local police official said that one person has been taken into custody as a suspected gunman.

After the shooting, a large number of police officers arrived quickly. Their efforts stopped the firing. However, several people were injured in the gunman's attack. They are being treated in hospital.

Police said they did not know the extent of the injuries or how many were injured.

Sergio Caldera, a 17-year-old student, said he heard gunshots coming from the classroom. At that time his teacher went out of the class to see what happened. Just then, another teacher came running to say that there was an active shooter in the school and to close the doors and windows of the classroom.

Then they all quickly went to the back of the class room. After a while someone knocked loudly and asked to open the door. But they didn't open the door. At that time they all heard the gunshot again.
