Seventa Event brings local suppliers together for Christmas in Cambridge

With collaboration at the heart of planning, Seventa Events, Cambridge Dining Co., Evolution Dome, and over 19 local and independent businesses came together to create an end-of-year celebration for 3,000 employees from a leading technology provider on December 11, 2024.

Simon Brooks, founder of Seventa Events, explained, “The clients community-driven ethos runs deep and keeping the event close to home was important to all involved. The client wanted to keep the event local to Cambridge to minimise their environmental and local impact. The next step for us was figuring out how far we could take the concept.”  

To reduce its impact on the local surroundings and residents, Seventa Events decided to use its Christmas in Cambridge site as the foundation for the event. By working within an existing space, they reduced the overall build time, resource usage, and potential disruptions to the area.

Simon Day, founder of Cambridge Dining Co. added, “With almost everyone involved being local to Cambridge, we were able to work on a scale that is not always possible for us individually. From fresh food to crew, every supplier we worked with brought a spark of Cambridge with them; the togetherness helped us create something great and I think it really showed in the final experience.”

In addition to the site’s existing facilities and ice rink, Evolution Dome supplied its Fluid Scarab and 24m Dome to house the entertainment including a disco and live bands. Evolution Dome was able to offer a turn-key solution including over 14,000 sqft of structures, flooring, carpet, lighting and heating in 16 hours, bringing Seventa closer to its goal of creating a low-impact event with minimal site disruption while embodying the festive theme through its igloo-shaped design.

Ashley Austin, Evolution Dome director, concluded, “With any event, there is a lot to consider, especially when many parts are working together for the same goal. We’ve built a lot of trust with Seventa Events and Cambridge Dining Co. over the years and it goes a long way in building experiences that feel seamless for attendees.
