Shajahan Khan sick on remand, sent to jail


Awami League presidium member and former minister Shajahan Khan, who was arrested in a murder case at Dhanmondi police station of the capital, was sick on remand, the court ordered him to be sent to prison without completing it.

The former MP of Awami League was arrested last Thursday night from Dhanmondi and arrested in Jigatla Motalib murder case by the police.

According to the sources of the case, on August 4, Abdul Motalib (14) joined the movement of the students in the Dhanmondi police station of the capital. He later died of gunshot wounds to the chest and neck. In this incident, on August 26, the victim's father, Abdul Matin, filed a murder case at Dhanmondi police station as the plaintiff. 176 names including Sheikh Hasina are mentioned in the case. Shajahan is accused number 23 in this case. Besides, unknown 250/300 people have been accused.

Awami League presidium member Shajahan Khan is the working president of Bangladesh Workers Federation. He was elected Member of Parliament from Madaripur-2 Constituency as the first independent candidate in 1986.

From the same seat, he was later elected Member of Parliament in the elections of 1991, 1996, 2001, 2008, 2014, 2018 and 2024 on the nomination of Bangladesh Awami League.
