Awami League presidium member Jahangir Kabir Nanak has expressed concern over the ongoing political instability and anarchic situation across the country. At the same time, Awami League condemned and protested these activities.
He made various allegations in a statement sent to the media on Wednesday.
In the statement, Jahangir Kabir Nanak claimed, 'On August 5, the government led by Bangabandhu's daughter Sheikh Hasina was overthrown by illegal means through deep domestic and foreign plots and conspiracies. This was followed by indiscriminate attacks, vandalism, looting, arson and hellish killings to generate revenue of fear and terror throughout Bangladesh. Police stations across the country were attacked, vandalized, set on fire and killed by members of the police force, destroying the law and order situation and creating an anarchic situation.'
Commenting that the morale of the policemen has been broken, he said, 'By bringing down the law and order situation to zero level, the spread of the worst terrorism in history is revealed and it is given moral legitimacy by the political evil based on terror. The common people of the country including the leaders and activists of Bangladesh Awami League and the traditional religious population were victims of their heinous activities. Thousands of people including Awami League leaders lost their lives and countless people were injured. Homes, offices and business establishments of Awami League were attacked and set on fire.
Nanak also said, 'Bangladesh Awami League's central office and the political office of the president have been attacked, vandalized, set on fire and looted around 10,000 party buildings across the country. The historic residence of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the monument of Bangladesh's independence, has been burnt down at house number 32 in Dhanmondi. The last memorial of Bangabandhu has also been removed.'
In the statement, he said, 'After the incident of August 5, the tradition, culture and culture of Bangladesh are being attacked one by one. Amrakanan Mujib Nagar Museum in Meherpur, one of the memorials of the Independence War, the sculpture of the Father of the Nation, the statue of Zainul Abedin, and the sculpture of Zainul Abedin were vandalized in different parts of the country. This kind of despicable attempt is a blow to the roots of Bengali tradition and spirit. Which has saddened and shocked all those who believe in the history, tradition and spirit of independence of Bangladesh. We strongly condemn and protest such despicable actions on behalf of Bangladesh Awami League.
