Sheikh Hasina's life could have been in danger if she had stayed in the country: Army chief

Was it right to give safe exit to former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina? Or should he be judged in the country? A question that many people have in mind. Army chief Waqar-uz-Zaman answered this question in a conversation with Canada-based Bangla media, Citizen Television.

In a recent telephone conversation with Citizen Television, the army chief said, “I was discussing with political parties.” Then I came to know that Sheikh Hasina is leaving. But I did not know that he was leaving the country. I think Sheikh Hasina's life would have been in danger if she had stayed in the country. Be it an extrajudicial killing, no one would want it. This is definitely not desirable.

He said, if everyone works together, it will be possible to reform the country. Can go to a nice democratic process. The army is also with the government, working. We must move towards that goal, because this process cannot be left half done. There is no turning back from this goal.

Addressing the people, he said, many people are spreading rumours. A variety of news is presented by mixing truth with lies. As a result people get wrong idea. Which is not appropriate. At this time, Chief of Army Staff Waqar-uz-Zaman called upon the people to tell the truth and be patient.

Commenting that the mess of 16 years will not be solved in 16 days, he further said that it is better if the problem can be solved in 16 months. Bureaucracy-police etc. have problems on all sides. This government has to give time. they are working Don't be impatient.
