Heavy shelling was reported in Ruma Khal, Prangsa, Paindu of Ruma upazila of Bandarban and Barathli border area of ​​Bilaichhari upazila of Rangamati. In this incident, there is panic in the area, all the shops in the market have been closed.

The incident took place on Friday (April 19) afternoon in the remote area of ​​Prangsa-Paindu in Bandarban and Barathli UP border of Bilaichhari upazila in Rangamati. A businessman of Ruma Bazaar said that the traders are sitting quietly after closing all the shops in the market due to fear.

Ruma Upazila Chairman Uhla Ching Marma said that joint forces have been operating in Ruma Upazila for several days. The local people told him this afternoon that heavy firing is taking place in remote areas on the border of Barathli Union of Pindu Union and Bilaichhari Upazila. Locals believe that these shootings are by KNF members and law enforcement forces.

Ruma Upazila Chairman Uhla Ching Marma said that the operation of joint forces has been going on in Ruma Upazila for a few days.

Regarding the locals, he said that the locals told him this afternoon that they heard heavy gunshots and bombs inside the inaccessible area on the border of Paindu UP, Ruma Sadar UP and Bilaichhari Upazila Barathli Union. Local residents believe that joint forces are firing with terrorists.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Ruma Police Station Md. Shahjahan said, received the news of the shootings. However, the details are not known.

It should be noted that joint forces have been conducting operations against terrorists since April 6 in the case of bank robbery in Ruma, which is still ongoing. So far 66 people have been arrested and 52 of them have been remanded by the court.
