Simultaneous withdrawal of 25 Deputy Commissioners


The Deputy Commissioners (DCs) of 25 districts of the country have been withdrawn and transferred to various ministries and departments. The decision was announced in a separate notification of the Ministry of Public Administration on Tuesday (August 20).

However, it was already decided that the DCs will be phased out and new DCs will be appointed in their place. DC of Dhaka, Sylhet, Habiganj, Mymensingh, Magura, Rangpur, Gaibandha, Naogaon, Natore, Cox's Bazar, Chittagong, Noakhali, Gazipur, Comilla, Moulvibazar, Khulna, Gopalganj districts have been withdrawn.

In a separate order, the DCs of Faridpur, Sherpur, Kushtia, Jhenaidah, Pabna, Bogra, Jaipurhat and Chandpur districts were withdrawn.

Government sources say that more changes will be made in the police and public administration soon.

Incidentally, after the fall of Sheikh Hasina's government in the face of the students' movement, various changes are taking place in the public administration and the police. The interim government embarked on major changes in public administration soon after taking office. On August 14, the contracts of 11 secretaries including the chairman of the National Board of Revenue (NBR) were cancelled. And the Secretary of the Prime Minister's Office has been made Officer on Special Duty (OSD). Apart from this, the officials who are deprived of promotion are being promoted. Major promotions have already been given to the posts of Deputy Secretary and Joint Secretary.
