The students of anti-discrimination student movement have taken the initiative to list the missing persons in the incident of attack-looting and arson at Gazi Tires factory in Rupsi, Rupganj, Narayanganj.

Apart from this, a list has also been announced by the district administration.

Relatives of the missing persons kept calling for their search since Monday morning in front of Gazi Tires factory, which was set on fire at night after looting throughout the day on Sunday.

At one stage, the names, addresses and mobile numbers of the missing persons were submitted to the Fire Service and Civil Defence. At 3 pm on Monday, the relatives gave the names of about a quarter of 200 missing persons.

But in the afternoon it was informed that it is not the responsibility of the fire service to make such a list. Since then, the relatives have not been able to name any missing persons. However, many relatives of the missing were in front of the factory throughout the night.

In view of this situation, when Narayanganj Deputy Commissioner Mahmudul Haque visited the factory in the afternoon, the journalists wanted to know about the list of missing persons. Then the Deputy Commissioner said to make such a list.

Later, general students started listing the missing from noon Mahima Mir Ripa, a graduate student of Govt Murapara College, said that they have listed the names of 126 people till 6 pm.

He said, “Though there was a fire on Sunday night, till Tuesday morning we came to the factory and saw that no list was being made by the administration. Relatives of the missing are walking around with photos and national identity cards. But no one was listing their names Even when asked to know the number of missing people from the administration, they could not tell

“I saw in the media, the fire service made a missing list, but when we asked them, they denied making the list. As a result, we students started listing at least to publicly inform how many people are missing in this accident.”

When asked about the list at 7 pm, Deputy Commissioner Mahmudul Haque said, “After giving instructions to the Rupganj upazila administration to make a list of the missing, they have started the list.

“But I don't want to say how many are on the list right now.”

Regarding the list made by the students, he said, “We will also collect the list of students Both will make a complete list.”
