Tariq Rahman was acquitted from the defamation case

The court acquitted BNP Acting Chairman Tarek Rahman from the defamation case filed in the Gopalganj court. Chief Judicial Magistrate Mohammad Shahadat Hossain Bhuiyan acquitted Tarek Rahman on Tuesday (August 27) afternoon.

In 2014, the then president of Gopalganj District Chhatra League, Abdul Hamid filed this case in the court as a plaintiff.

Also, the same court has acquitted Central Volunteer Party President SM Jilani under Section 249 of the Criminal Procedure Code in a case filed by the state party in 2012.

According to the report of the case against Tarek Rahman, on December 17, 2014, the statement of BNP Acting Chairman Tarek Rahman was printed in a national daily. There, Tariq Rahman said about Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, right before the declaration of independence, Bangabandhu agreed with Yahya Khan as president. Awami League had no preparation for the liberation war.
