The advice given by the police to the residents of the capital on Eid

Most people will leave the capital to celebrate Eid with their families. In this Dhaka city will be almost empty. Many have already left Dhaka. Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has given 14 suggestions for the safety of those who will be in the capital during the Eid holidays.

On Friday (April 5), the DMP gave a number of suggestions to the city dwellers before leaving Dhaka ahead of delivering sermons in mosques. This information has been informed by the media and public relations department of DMP.

On the instructions of DMP Commissioner Habibur Rahman, the police station OC and other officers read out the advice before the sermon in every mosque to make the people of Dhaka city aware. The suggestions are:

1. Switch off all lights, fan switches, electrical plugs including gas and water lines and leave the house. To prevent fire accidents at home, open the doors and windows after returning from home. Do not light the gas stove or turn on the electrical switch under any circumstances until the gas accumulated in the house is released.

2. CCTV cameras should be installed in homes. Check whether the previously installed CC camera is active or not.

3. Electric lighting system should be kept around the house.

4. Leave cash or jewelery in a safe place with a bank or close relatives.

5. The movement of unknown suspects wearing face masks and head caps should be monitored at night or day together. 999 should be given if necessary.

6. Alarm should be installed to prevent motorcycle theft. If someone touches the motorcycle, the alarm will sound. Marine anchor chain made of steel shall be used for locking. Motorcycles should be fitted with GPS trackers and better quality disc locks should be used on wheels.

7. If you accept a friend request sent on Facebook in the name of an IPS or BCS officer, army officer, etc. from the country or abroad, you may be cheated or a victim of blackmailing. Therefore, such friend requests should not be accepted.

8. Do not accept video calls from strangers whose name and address you do not know. They can blackmail you and collect money by recording obscene pictures or videos sent in such video calls.

9. No person can close your bank account or Bikash or cash account. They may ask you for your account password or PIN number repeatedly with the fear of closing these accounts. If you receive such a phone call, password or pin code cannot be given under any circumstances.

10. If you get a phone call saying money has gone into your development account by mistake, don't believe it without verifying.

11. Don't believe if you get a mobile phone call saying that you have won the lottery or will send expensive gifts or dollars from abroad. Fraudsters steal lakhs of rupees by saying that money has to be paid at airport customs or NBR or Bangladesh Bank. Do not fall into such temptation under any circumstances.

12. Don't believe in the temptation to make crores of rupees by investing in border pillars made of very expensive metals. Fraudsters steal crores of rupees by showing fake pillars. In reality there is no such pillar.

13. Don't believe Facebook accounts or apps that offer cheap hotel rentals, plane tickets, or low-cost shipping to Europe, Canada, or America.

14. If you receive a request to send urgent money to a relative, friend or acquaintance in danger on Facebook, Messenger, WhatsApp and IMO ID, do not send money without contacting his family members. Such requests are sent by stealing mobiles or hacking different IDs.
