The duration of the heat alert has been extended for the fourth time


For the past few days, mild to very intense heat waves are sweeping over the country. This heatwave has been going on since March 31st. Meteorologists have said that in the first week of next month (May), rains will increase and the scope of the heat wave will decrease. On Saturday (April 27), the highest temperature in the country was 42.7 degrees Celsius in Chuadanga. The maximum temperature in Dhaka was 37.4 degrees Celsius. In such a situation, the Meteorological Department has once again extended the heat alert period for another three days. A heat alert was announced for the fourth time. Earlier, the Meteorological Department issued a three-day heat alert on April 25. That period ended on Saturday (April 27).

The heat wave warning on Sunday (April 28) said that the heat wave over the country may continue for the next 72 hours (three days) from Sunday (April 28). An excess of water vapor may increase discomfort.

According to the Meteorological Department, very intense heat wave is passing over Chuadanga district and intense heat wave is passing over Rajshahi, Pabna, Sirajganj, Jessore and Kushtia districts. A mild to moderate heat wave is prevailing over the rest of Rajshahi and Khulna divisions and Dhaka and Barisal divisions including Dinajpur, Rangamati, Chandpur, Feni and Bandarban districts and may persist.

According to the weather forecast till 6 pm on Sunday, two places of Chittagong and Sylhet divisions may experience rain with gusty wind or rain with thunder. Along with that, there may be scattered rain of hail at some places.

Elsewhere in the country, the weather will remain mainly dry with partly cloudy sky. Day temperatures may increase slightly and night temperatures may remain almost unchanged across the country. The Meteorological Department has also said that there may be discomfort due to excess water vapor.

A heat wave is an extremely hot weather. And the warning issued about this heat wave is basically heat alert or heat wave alert. If the heat wave increases to an extreme level, there is also a fear of more major natural disasters. Besides, it can cause death if it goes beyond human tolerance. Therefore, the Meteorological Department issues heat alerts to warn everyone about the upcoming severe heat wave.
